Frequently asked questions

What does a bookkeeper actually do?

A lot of prospective clients I meet with actually have no idea what bookkeeping even is...they were just told that they need it. This is totally fine and the reason I do what I do! Basically, in a nutshell, I gather all your business's financial data, organize it, and give you reports that show you exactly how your business is performing so that you can make important decisions. I actually wrote a blog post on this in more detail that you can check out right here.

How much do you charge?

Short answer, most small businesses can expect to pay a fixed monthly price ranging from $200.00 to $400.00 per month. I don't bill hourly, so you'll always know how much you'll be paying and when. What that price is all depends on the size of your business and its own unique needs. Read more or schedule a call to get your own personalized quote.

What is it like working with you?

One thing I pride myself on in my own business is how flexible I am with my clients. If you're looking for a hands off approach, where you're throwing receipts at me and saying "I don't even know, dude," I'm totally good with that! But if you're more into a hands on approach that looks like me guiding you and teaching you how to take this on yourself, I'm also good with that! Together, we can come up with a plan that fits your needs and helps you reach your goals.

Do I have to have a Quickbooks Online subscription to work with you?

Yes. While I am flexible in other areas of my business, I am currently only taking on clients who either have an existing Quickbooks Online subscription or are willing to start one (I can help with that!). Quickbooks Online is my specialty and it allows me to serve you better when I know the program like the back of my hand.

What does the onboarding process look like?

The first step is always scheduling a discovery call. During the call, I will ask some questions about your business and give you a quote for a fixed monthly price. If you decide to move forward, I will send over a personalized agreement for you to sign and ask you to invite me as an accountant user on your Quickbooks Online account. Once the agreement has your digital signature and I can successfully access your bookkeeping, I will send over my first invoice, and then we can get into the nitty gritty stuff, like setting up view-only bank logins, point of sale integrations, and document sharing methods.

Can't AI just do this for me?

I mean, it can, but it's not going to do it very well, unless you teach it to. Since I am very familiar with Quickbooks, I've taken advantage of their automation tools and set up valuable time-saving rules in my clients' books. The more you can automate the better! But whatever time or money you spend on bookkeeping won't matter at all if your data and reports aren't accurate. So it's worth it to have someone who knows what the heck they're doing to make sure those things are being done correctly.

Okay, fine, you've convinced me. What do I need to do to get your help?

Awesome! Let's start with a discovery call.

Why should I trust you?

When it comes to the financial data of your business, it is so important to be able to trust the people you share that information with. I've been a bookkeeper since 2006 and I am a certified Quickbooks Online ProAdvisor, so you can rest assured that you'll receive the highest quality of work. I go above and beyond for my clients and it brings me the greatest joy to provide them with a sense of clarity every month when I send them their reports.

And remember! No matter who you choose to trust with this responsibility, make sure you always provide a view-only login to your online banking. Never share your own personal passwords.
